Dating Tips for Shy Singles
Singles that are shy seem to have a hard time when it comes to dating. Having
confidence and self-assurance are key ingredients one needs to project when
dating, shy or not . If you are a shy single, you are going to have to learn how
to project a confident image to your date.
For one, eye contact is a
must. When you meet a new single, you should look them directly in the eyes when
speaking and try to smile. If you are looking down at your shoes or around the
room, you will come across as being very uneasy and uncomfortable. Secondly, you
should project your voice and speak in an audible and clear manner. If you
approach a new date and you speak so softly that they to have you repeat
yourself three times, they will be turned off. Body language is also key when
projecting confidence to a date. Don't cross your arms when you are engaged in
conversation, this mannerism will make it seem like you are trying to keep
yourself closed off from others. Regardless of the inner turmoil that you may be
feeling during your date, and the butterflies and knots that are dancing around
in your stomach, try to keep your body language in check to project confidence.
A shy single should practice introductions in the mirror, and make a conscious
effort to keep your head up and your shoulders back. Body language speaks
volumes. It may take a while to get the hang of the confident new you, but with
practice, anyone can master the art of confident body language.
Shy
singles should ask questions and show interest in their date. Sometimes shy
singles have the tendency to nervously ramble on about themselves, neglecting to
take any interest in their dates. It isn't that shy people are rude and
insensitive; it's just that they aren't sure how to handle themselves under the
pressure of a first date. Unfortunately, if you ramble on about yourself, your
date is going to think that you are a self-centered egomaniac. Always be
prepared. If you have an array of possible questions prepared for your date,
then you will be able to turn to one of those questions if you are nervously
fumbling for conversation. Ask your date about their first job. Ask her about
their family. Ask about their pets, or if they like animals. Ask your date if
they have done much traveling, or if they want to travel. Ask them about their
hobbies and special interests. Your date will be flattered and impressed that
you are taking such an active interest in them. Plus, these questions often lead
to long conversations and trips down memory lane. The more prepared you are for
your date, the less nervous and shy you will appear, making for a relaxing
date.
Always be positive when dating. Project a positive towards
everything. Never speak negatively on a date. Negativity usually turns people
off. The power of positive thinking is incredible. If you tend to be a negative
thinker, consistently monitor your negative thoughts and replace them with
positive ones, then over time, you will notice that your attitudes start to
shift to more positive ones overall.
Look your best when dating someone
new. The better you look, the better you will feel. A shy single who feels that
they look good will be far more outgoing than a shy single who thinks they don't
look good. You need to set yourself up for dating success by dressing to
impress. Most importantly, always stay true to the real you when dating, you are
sure to have great dating success then, even if your a bit shy.
